After my recent experiences with a horrible hosting provider, I started a new server contract with another hosting company. The new server should be on-line in the next day or so, which means I have to start transferring data from the old server and configuring new server. The move should take a bit of my time; there will be a lot of testing along the way to ensure that everything works properly on the new machine. I'm going to need some good music to listen to while doing the transfer.

Mojo pointed out that Elvis is Everywhere...
except in Michael J. Fox. I have to agree.

My friend Mike was raving about Frank Black's "Teenager of the Year" album the other day. He mentioned that is was one of those album he could listen from beginning to end and enjoy all of the songs (all 22 tracks). I dug "Teenager of the Year" out of my collection today and gave it a spin. It's fine album, I like must of the songs, but songs like "Whatever Happened to Pong?" and "Pure Denizen Of The Citizens Band" just don't get me excited. "Teenager of the Year" is good, personally I think "Pistolero" is better, but I wouldn't classify either of the selections as one of my favorite albums to listen to from beginning to end. It got me thinking about what albums I like the most as a collection of songs ("best of" albums do not qualify).

Fewer and fewer people are buying entire albums in this day of single song iTunes downloads. People buy the one hit single from an album and never listen to any of the other tracks... I think that is a shame. Here are a few albums (in no particular order) I like to listen to from beginning to end, these albums are ones that I never skip tracks, head nod and sometimes *GASP* sing along with... I work alone so luckliy nobody has to hear me.

• Mojo Nixon & Skid Roper - BO-DAY-SHUS!!! Skid possibly is best washboard player of all time, and Mojo is a musical genius in my opinion. Best described up by Philly's own "Dead Milkmen" in their song, "Punk Rock Girl":

We went to a shopping mall
And laughed at all the shoppers
And security guards trailed us to a record shop
We asked for Mojo Nixon
They said he don't work here
We said if you don't got Mojo Nixon then your store could use some fixin

• Sex Pistols - Never Mind the Bollocks. An all-time classic, at the top of many people's lists. I gained even more respect for the Pistols when Steve Jones and Johnny Rotten refused to accept the Pistol's entry into the Rock 'n Roll hall of fame. Jonesy considered the honor to be "total bollocks," you should check out Jonsey's radio show on Indie 103.1 (indie1031.com).

• The Police - Reggatta De Blanc. Every song is incredible. Rock, Punk, and Reggae all rolled into one masterpiece.

• Pixies - Dolittle. In my honest opinion, the best Pixies album, although I like 'em all. Frank Black showing his genius once again.

• Reverend Horton Heat - Liquor in the Front. Rockabilly taken up a couple of notches, some call it Psychobilly. You can't beat the Reverend's guitar playing with a stick, and Jimbo hits hard on stand-up bass.

There are a many more I could list, but these are the ones that first came to mind. It just occurred to me that all of these albums are over 10 years old... maybe somebody can make some more recently released album suggestions.
