Big Bird was ready to roll this weekend, I was not.

Years past I would have been out there
regardless of the conditions.
My tough guy status is under review, and I think I'll get my status removed, I'm getting soft. I'm not sure what has happened, but here are some non-tough guy behaviors I have observed in myself recently:
- More wine consumption vs. beer consumption.
- Riding a geared, suspended, 29'er mountain bike instead of my rigid single-speed.
- Completing one lap at the Running of the Dogs 4 hour MTB race and pulling out because I was wet, cold, and afraid of getting sick.
- Riding the train and driving rather than riding my bike.
- Blogging. Tough guys don't blog, except for Elk.
- Not going to the Michaux MTB race this past weekend because it was raining.
I really wanted to do the Monster Loop at Michaux Maximus this past weekend. I had the ?Ǩ?Big Bird?Ǩ bike ready to roll and my fitness is pretty good (must be all the wine). The weather forecast for Michaux was calling for 1-2 inches of rain on Saturday, and continueing through Sunday morning. the plan was to roll out from Philly on Saturday with Yozell and camp out at the start/finish area. I love camping, but camping in the rain is not my idea of a good time. I love riding my bike, but riding my bike in three inches of slop is not my idea of a good time... guess I'm no longer a tough guy. In years past I used to race through rain, snow, sleet, mud, and enjoyed it... no longer... guess I'm not a tough guy.
Maybe I'm just getting older and wiser. Has married life made me soft? What do you think?
